Baby Shark is back! Pinkfong and Round Room Live just announced that Baby Shark Live! will be back on stage near you.
The live immersive shark-filled experience prematurely shut down last year so if your littles didn’t get a chance to check it out, now they live out their “do, do, do, do, do, doo” dreams. The Baby Shark Live! tour will kick off this June, starting in Texas.

But after almost 4 billion streams, and remarkably little money, the viral predator is going on tour.
When the confetti cannons went, the toddlers cheered in delight, gazing at the onstage superstars.
Here are the ten people who were performing the finale of “Baby Shark Live!” – a 75-minute adaptation of a two-minute viral music video, and a case study in real-world translation that was, at the very least, a moneymaking endeavor.

But despite the success of its meme, SmartStudy was not quite ready to take what could be called a “children’s brand” concept on the scale of Elmo — and it still can, with the aim of making its smiling ocean predator a brand for kids.
To get Baby Shark into every shopping aisle it can, the company has struck licensing deals with Kellogg’s (for limited-edition boxes of “Berry-Fin-Tastic” cereal) and the makers of bedsheets, bath toys, coloring books, clothing, finger puppets and Halloween costumes. A Nickelodeon TV show and a feature film are also in the works.
The latest trial of the property’s business potential comes in the form of “Baby Shark Live!” If ticket sales are strong it’ll remain on the road for at least three years. The show, with approximately 20 songs, three of which are the “Baby Shark” version, has a lot on the line.
With the low standard royalty rates YouTube pays, perhaps SmartStudy’s only way to make big money off of its hit is by venturing into ancillary businesses. The roots of the song — a decades-old camp singalong favorite, the material is believed to be publicly owned — also give the company a weak grip on the IP rights.
But of course the question must be asked of all viral memes. When the next online entertainment craze takes off, will anyone remember “Baby Shark” — and be willing to pay $50 for a concert ticket?

The Korean studio was looking for an American to mount a tour of the show when it entered into a partnership five months ago with Stephen Shaw and Jonathan Linden, two seasoned concert industry executives who have worked with rock legends such as the Rolling Stones and Genesis. During their negotiations, Mr. Shaw recalled, one concern was paramount for SmartStudy: “They wanted a tour out as soon as possible.”
